22 motorway service stations get funding to install Changing Places facilities

In April 2019, the Department for Transport, in partnership with Muscular Dystrophy UK (MDUK), launched a scheme inviting motorway service providers to apply for a share of £2million funding to install Changing Places toilets at their sites. The first locations have now been announced:

Meanwhile the construction industry is awaiting the results of The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s analysis of a consultation proposing that Changing Places toilets become mandatory in certain larger building under Part M of the Building Regulations. The government estimates this could mean facilities in more than 150 new buildings a year and that the cost of a Changing Places WC would be between £28,700 and £45,000.
