Government Publishes Draft Building Safety Bill
The Bill is the long-awaited outcome of Dame Judith Hackitt’s review of building regulations and fire safety, which attempted to analyse and understand the causes of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
The Building Safety Bill, together with the Fire Safety Bill and Fire safety Order Consultation, will mean major reforms in the design, construction and occupation of all buildings over 18m or six storeys in height.
Before the Bill is finalised and formally introduced to Parliament, the Draft will be examined by a Parliamentary committee which will also consider stakeholders’ views.
