Andrew Hill – University of Nottingham, North Laboratory
I am really pleased to have issued a Building Regulations certificate for the refurbishment works and cladding works at North Laboratory, (Sutton Bonington Campus) which will be an important research and education centre for Bioscience studies such as Virology and Cell Culture.
On paper, this project looked like a straightforward project, but plan assessments do not always capture the difficulties which may be faced on site. This project involved checking some very difficult fire stopping details and damper scheduling, with complications arising from the existing structure, and intensive ventilation requirements to service the building’s needs.
This project is another example of how good professional relationships really help to get successful outcomes. The value of good communication and being able to talk things through and share knowledge cannot be underestimated. With this project, working with the Gleeds Nottingham Building Surveying team was a key part of being able to resolve site complications and achieve Building Regulations compliance.Back to articles
