Shelter from the Storm in Wallpaper and Monocle

The new home for London charity Shelter from the Storm (SFTS) is featured on the Wallpaper website and is highlighted in a discussion on the capital’s homelessness in the Monocle on Design radio show.

SFTS is a completely free emergency night shelter providing bed, dinner and breakfast for homeless people every night of the year and has been funded entirely by donations.

Holland Harvey Architects took on the redevelopment of the premises, located in a disused supermarket building. As well as room for 42 people to sleep, eat and recover, the new location offered up the opportunity for a community café that through its generous façade and inviting design, also aims to bring more transparency to the pressing issue of homelessness in London.

Building Control was provided free by Quadrant.
